Settling Into Place

SettlingIntoPlace

Free and ready for whatever comes next.

From our conversation on the beach, Mr. Divine and I have been doing a lot better. That talk seemed to have opened a floodgate of conversation to make sure that we are staying on track as a couple. We sit down and just try to talk about everything as much as possible and make sure we were on the right page or just the same page about the things that might be a complication.

With Kylie enjoyed her new school and both of them studying for upcoming exams, things were settling back into a quiet state in our home. A while back Kylie had told me was interested in taking several of her exams early so she had started to do extra lessons in preparation for those exams. That had been going well and it was a major help towards her applications into university.

The children’s sporting activities have brought back up the question of the possibility of them having the opportunity to move to another country so they can further their education and ranking in the sport. We all had a long talk and the plan is to wait for Kylie’s results and see if there is any early interest from the universities that she wants to go to. Her swim coach has also been looking into scholarships at her choice universities and several other schools that would teach the courses that interest her. We would know the results in a few months and from there we would revisit the idea of moving as a family or if we would let Kylie go off on her own and have an adventure. Time would tell.

Talk and More Talk

TalkAndMoreTalk

We kept talking until everything was settled.

After my heated encounter at the beach with Mr. Divine, I was…I’m not sure what I was but I was something. After my brainwashing, lol, I found myself sitting on the beach in Mr. Divine’s arms. There we talked and talked and kept talking about why I would allow my insecurities to creep in and talk over my mind.

I found it hard to explain but he wouldn’t let up, determined to understand what fueled my lack of trust. That was when I told him that Walter had left me from a woman I worked with who pretended to be my friend and who used to trick me into doing her work so she could leave early and be with my husband. That I suspected my husband used to talk my things and give to this woman and I explained about the free spa treatment I had been given that Walter had just taken.

I didn’t even know I was crying until Mr. Divine wiped the tears from my cheeks. Now I had sand on my face and was started to get cold. Taking my hand he pulled me up and lead me into the water.

“What are you wearing under that shirt and pants?” he asked.

“Not much,” I replied. “My husband has a habit of buying me racy lingerie and I miss him so I have been wearing them.”

“You are supposed to wear then all the time not just when you miss me,” said Mr. Divine flashing me a mischievous smile. “Off with those clothes. You can wear my shirts.”

I looked around the beach as he quickly unbuttoned his shirt and pulled if off. After pulling me further into the water until it was over my shoulders, Mr. Divine kissed me and I fell into the pleasure of being with him. We would be fine because we would work on being fine.

Married Life

MarriedLife

Sometimes you get in your own way.

One thing I know about marriage is that it isn’t easy to move your way forward, both the spouse and I have to be on the same page as well as reading the same line. That being said, Mr. Divine and I had our first disagreement of sorts. The fact that my husband traveled so often for work like a worm that was festering in the back of my mind. When he was away he was always in contact with both myself and the children, but its the fact he is not here that gets to me.  Add to that, my mind drifts to the fact I was clueless about what my Ex had been doing all those years and the insane scenarios start to take over my mind.

I was so in a grip of confusion that when Mr. Divine called, I made up so many stupid excuses not to talk to him. For most of his trip, I avoided his calls and stewed. I had let the past and all the things that my Ex had been doing and I didn’t know about and came up with the possibility that Mr. Divine may be doing that same thing to me. All the while I was in my head, the kids had spoken to Mr. Divine and he had cut his trip short. I was beyond shocked when he showed up and called me out of work.

Christmas Past

Some of the Christmas decorations that were to be seen as we drove out and about.

This is the last of my catch-up post and from now on things will be about what is going on right now, as well as short and sweet.

When Christmas came last year, things were a buzz of excitement in my house. I’m used to the kids being excited for this time of year, but this time it was like they were almost jumping out of their skin for the season to come. They were so eager they started to get the house ready even before I asked. In fact, they were asking me, and by the 3rd of December they had the house decorated on the outside and were urging me to get a live Christmas tree so they could decorate it. I got it and by the next weekend we had the tree up.

Mr. Divine has been traveling for the past three weeks and he came home the same time as the tree was going up. He dropped everything and helped us and we ended up having an amazing time putting that tree together. When we were done, we got out a tub of ice cream and enjoyed the lights as they flickered against the walls. It was the perfect way to end our night.

With Mr. Divine here, several events were added to our Christmas social calendar. It was interesting, the huge difference in the types of social experiences my children and I now encountered because of being his wife. I have done more socializing with him in the last year than I did in my pass marriage of just over eighteen years. It was an uplifting experience. We also went to my mother’s house and had the most amazing time. When she had first met Mr. Divine, she took him aside and had a long talk. It seems she decided to give him a top-up on the previous talk for Christmas. From whatever he said to her she was content and came back to us with a huge smile on her face.

We had a wild family-filled and social Christmas last year and from what I understand they have already started planning what we are going to do for Easter this year. I can hardly wait.  To me, this is what life is supposed to be about, family, love and happiness.

Step Two

The kids relaxing between stops.

Everything at our house is as settled as it can be and everyone is ready to escape away on vacation. We are scheduled to leave for Atlanta in two days and it is arranged that my sister and one of my brothers will make periodic visits to the house. Knowing they would do that gave me a peace of mind.

Excitement was pulsing through the children when we got on the plane and by the time we got off it was like they were about to burst. Our first stop was at Mr. Divine’s house and when we drove up his driveway my breath was taken away. The house was a huge ranch style property with oversized windows and a wrap around porch. I loved it at first sight and when we opened the doors and went inside we greeted by wide open, uncluttered room with amazing furniture and fixtures.

Exhausted we were pleasantly surprised to find a fuller stocked fridge and better yet a warm meal in the oven waiting for us. Mr. Divine explained that he had a housekeeper that came twice a week when he was out of the country and every other day when he was home. He had called ahead and she had made sure that everything would be ready and waiting for us. We crashed that night, and when we work up in the morning and headed to the kitchen we were meet by the smells of breakfast being cooked. There we met Nina, a pleasant older woman who worked for Mr. Divine for the past ten years looking after him and his house.

“So you are the woman who stole my boss’s heart. You take care of him now,” she warned before turning back to the bacon she was frying in the pan.

I smiled and I knew she could see it in the flawless shine of the backsplash behind the stainless steel stovetop.

“Yes Nina,” I said sincerely. “I would be stupid not take care of the good man I’ve been gifted with. He is a rare and priceless treasure.”

She watched my reflection for several moments before she went back to her cooking and I got the plates and started setting the table for breakfast.

After breakfast, the exploration began. We spent several days in Atlanta and the nearby environs exploring and seeing what was available. From there we started out our road trip, making a roundabout way to Florida. There we visited the Theme Parks, the Everglades and even took the chance to go to The Keys. It was amazing and we loved every minute of the driving, discovering and exploring.

While in Florida we also stopped at three of the universities that offered swim scholarships and visited their campsite and found out as much as we could about their programs. The kids were as excited as when they went to see the universities in Atlanta. From there we drove from Florida to New York stopping to visit the sites and the NCAA1 rated universities along the way.

When we got to New York we paused and some sightseeing. After all, we were in New York City and there was a lot to see. We visited every site we could, then go the train up to Washington D. C. From there it was more exploring and taking in the sights.

This was the most intense and amazing trip I’ve ever been on and we kept going until we finished off in Toronto, Canada. As we relaxed and had lunch one afternoon, we talked to the kids to see what they enjoyed most about the trip and the places we visited.

“Do we have to decide?” was the question we got in reply.

From that, all we could conclude was that we had given the kids the travel bug and they had it bad.

“That was the most amazing trip I’ve been on,” insisted Kyle and Shane nodded in agreement.

“Can we do something like that again but maybe in Europe?”

Mr. Divine and I laughed. We’ll see what can happen”

When we boarded the plane on the way back to Atlanta we were chatting and planning for what next. Where to take a trip to and what colleges were worth a more intense look at. We loved every minute of that trip and I couldn’t wait to do another one.

Socializing

socalizing

A concert can really make a good day better.

In the past, I never went anywhere, but with my husband leaving me and coming to the realization that I was almost a recluse I started to take steps to change that. Things had changed a  lot in the past few years and I must admit by the time my divorce was final I had developed an active social life. Now I attended concerts, exhibitions and various other types of events by myself or with the kids and each one was uniquely amazing. Now that I have married, things have changed.

I still go out to these types of events but now I also go to what I consider as business networking events with Mr. Divine. I have learnt that to know what the movers and shakers are doing in the business and money making area, we needed to go where they were. So now, along with the going out for pleasure, we also go out several times a month to business events. We are meeting a lot of interesting people and discovering so many new and exciting business prospects. I’m excited about and enjoy this new type of going out. Learning a lot and loving it. I can hardly wait for my next event to expand my knowledge and plan my next possible business venture.

Book Review – She Sins at Midnight

shesinsatmidnight

I’ve read a lot of books, but She Sins at Midnight by Whitney Dineen, this one had me laughing long and loud at the antics and comments made by the main character, Lila Montgomery. Here is the blurb so you have an idea of what the story is about.

She Sins at Midnight Blurb

Lila Montgomery, thirty-two-year-old Hollywood assistant extraordinaire, has a secret. On the outside, she’s a hard-working dedicated employee, a good friend, and a loving daughter. But above all else, she’s been raised to be a lady, which of course is why she’s determined to conceal her secret life. If her straight-laced friends and family back home ever discover that she is really the smashing new author of a steamy romance novel, their disapproval would shame her forever! That’s why Lila has chosen to publish her sexy narrative under the nom de plume, Jasmine Sheath.

With her fifteenth high school class reunion on the horizon, Lila finds herself at a crossroads. More than anything she wants to go home and see her childhood friends but is embarrassed that she hasn’t accomplished the things she feels she should have by this time in her life; mainly marriage and children.

After another brutal run-in with Melinda Forrester, Oscar nominated actress and client of her boss, Josh Furber, Lila decides that fleeing Hollywood for a month is the best thing for her. Lila packs her bags for her childhood home of Bentley Hills, sure that her friends and family will be the touchstone of normalcy that she so desperately needs. What she doesn’t expect is that Melinda will follow her and a tabloid media circus will ensue!

Not only does Lila discover that her home is nothing like she remembers, but she meets and falls in love with the very man that inspired the hero in her novel.

Now back to my opinion of  She Sins at Midnight. Just a page or two into the story I was laughing and truly enjoying every word I was reading. The author brought me closer into the lives of the characters and painted a riveting picture of the events as they unfolded. As an added, bonus Lila Montgomery is also an author and as we read this story, we also get to read parts of the book she had written as herself and various other characters in this book buy and read her book.

The story Lila writes is interlaced with the main story is just as witty and funny as the main story and adds a unique element to the book. Every part of this story comes together to be a truly entertaining read and I strongly recommend this book to anyone who wants to read a fun story with a lovely ending.

Family Getaway

I’m skipping forward a bit but here is what we got up to on a trip. We spent a few days in Canada just to see if the children might want to consider going there for college. Click the link to see the video of a part of our adventures. Let me know what you think.

Step, Step, Step

There is always something new around the corner.

Time is flying so fast it is scary. One more day and the month is over…shocking. When I look back at what I…we, have done so far for the year it is reason enough to be truly happy. The martial arts classes are going well. Good fun. Learning how to fall without getting hurt, how to block punches…blows in general. The highlight was when we watched Mr. Divine and his friend fighting to give us a visual of what Krav Maga looks like. It was an epic experience and genuinely beautiful to see. I now understand why Mr. Divine wants us to learn this method of self-defence.

The kids swimming is still going well and Kylie is looking into college overseas. Her swimming has the potential to get her a sports scholarship so we are investigating what schools she might be interested in going to. We’ll spend the next few months trying to find the best fit for her. Some might say why so early but time is flinging by and we have no desire to lose an opportunity due to lack of investigation or not having time to do what needs to be done. Both kids will be moving to new schools in the coming school year so along with sports, they have been catching up with their school work. They are managing their workloads so far and we help whenever needed. We are getting there…yes, we are. Step by step by step.
